[3 minutes walk from the station] Value for money ◎ A set meal restaurant during the day and Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) at night, with an attractive retro atmosphere.
[Set meal bar Yo-chan] opened in May 2023 in Higashioku, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, in an area that retains the atmosphere of a downtown area, close to the Sumida River. The owner, who was born and raised in |
I visited after 11 o'clock on a weekday in January 2024. Teishoku Sakaba You-chan is Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) located about a 2-minute walk from Kumanomae Station on the Toden Arakawa Line. There were about 3 customers in the not-so-large store. I sat alone at the counter and ordered the ``Ginger Yaki Set Meal'' from the lunch menu for ¥900. It seems to be Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) run by foreign staff, but it looks like they are busy taking orders for Bento (boxed lunch). After ordering, you wait about 12.3 minutes for your food to be served. The ginger grill is served with plenty of raw vegetables. It comes with rice, miso soup, fried chikuwa, and takuan. Try the ginger-yaki, which is a large, thick piece of pork, onion, and carrot stir-fried with ginger sauce. Pork is a little tough. The onions and carrots, which are stir-fried just right, retain their texture. The seasoning is a little strong, but I feel like the ginger flavor could have been a little stronger. It doesn't taste bad as a side dish to rice. I eat rice while drinking miso soup with tofu, wakame, and bean sprouts, and snack on fried chikuwa and pickled radish. I'm happy to be able to enjoy grilled ginger with plenty of raw vegetables. You can soften the slightly salty taste with raw vegetables. I thoroughly enjoyed the set meal, feeling satisfied with the miso soup with so many toppings. It was a ``Ginger Grilled Set Meal'' that left you feeling quite satisfied when you finished it. There's nothing particularly impressive about the taste, but it's a set meal that will please those who want to have a hearty lunch. It's also a niche location near Kumanomae Station, making it a valuable set meal bar. While we were eating, the restaurant was full.
