東武牛田駅から徒歩8分ほどの焼肉平城苑 千住曙町店は日本が誇る価値ある和牛を一頭買いして、美味しさを余すところなく提供する焼肉専門店。JR北千住駅東口からは1.5kmほど。
1970年の創業からこだわり続けた和牛の品質と美味しさはもちろん、時代に合うタレの開発や新たなメニューの提案など、進化を続けながら焼肉の真の魅力を追求している。
運営は東京焼肉 平城苑・東京焼肉 一頭や・和牛放題の殿堂 肉屋横丁・Wagyu Burger・BLT STEAKなどのブランドを擁す足立区綾瀬が本社の(株)平城苑。平城苑は東京都・千葉県・埼玉県・神奈川県・茨城県・大阪府・富山県に31店舗展開している。
週末の13時頃伺うと墨堤通り(都道461号線)沿いに大きな2F建ての黒い建物が見える。庇には白い提灯が多数提げられて、入口には赤い暖簾。壁は炭を砕いて塗った様なつや消しの黒で、高級感はないが異様な迫力はある。
入り口付近にはランチメニューのボードがあり、土曜日でもランチOK。暖簾をくぐると74席ある店内は半分くらい埋まっている。1名と告げるとテーブル席に案内された。
ランチメニューは1,540円～。大きな字で税抜価格・小さな字で税込価格が書いてあるセコいタイプ。お得盛り四種セット1,540円は国産カルビ・ハラミ・本日のホルモン・豚トロ。せっかくなんで牛タンが入っているのをチョイス。

国産カルビ・タン塩・サラダ・ナムル・カクテキ・ワカメスープ・ライス・韓国海苔。
5分ほどで提供。カルビはサシが入って肉厚。この値段なので牛タンが薄いのは仕方ないだろう。タンを炙ってご飯の上にワンバンさせていただくとサッパリとした味わい。硬めに炊かれたご飯もウマイ。意外だったのが、わかめスープが美味しい事。多くの店はリケンのわかめスープ的な仕上がりだが、こちらはキチンと料理している。カルビは肉厚なのでしっかり火を通してタレを絡めてご飯と一緒に食べると至福。場所は不便だけど、CP良い焼肉店ではないだろうか。
