JR北千住駅西口から徒歩4分ほどのスペインバルCabanaは古民家を改装し山小屋みたいな落ち着いた雰囲気のバル。隠れ家のようなおしゃれでくつろげる居心地の良い空間が特徴。
場所は駅から駅前通りを日光街道に向かって歩く。宿場町通り(旧日光街道)を右に曲がってアカマル屋 北千住宿場町通り店の角を右に入ったところ。cabanaと書かれた赤い看板が目印。ちなみにcabanaとはポルトガル語で小屋という意味。
週末の13時頃伺うと、テーブルとカウンターで15席ある店内に先客なし。2Fにもテーブル16席ほどあるようだ。1名と告げるとカウンター席に案内される。店内は木目のテーブル・イス・床、白い壁と相まって山小屋というより、洒落たペンション風。
土日限定のランチメニューはスタンダードセット1,200円とカバナセット1,500円の2つ。スタンダードはタパス2種・ミニ有機サラダ・選べるメイン・ターメリックライス・ソフトドリンク。カバナはタパス5種・有機サラダ・選べるメイン・ターメリックライス・ミニデザート・ソフトドリンク。どちらもメインはポジョアサード(鶏もも肉のソテーピリ辛ソース)とアルボンディガス(肉団子のトマト煮込み)からチョイスできる。ランチアルコールは350円で提供してくれるのが嬉しいが、仕事中なのでガマン。

タパスはラタトゥイユ(トマト煮込み)とフリッタータ(卵焼き)。サラダはヨーグルトが効いたドレッシングがウマイ。ドリンクは自家製レモンジンジャーソーダを選んだ。レモンジンジャーペーストが沈んでいるので、よくかき混ぜて飲むとピリッとしたジンジャーとレモンの香りが良い。ここまでは隙がなく美味しいのでメインに期待が高まる。
10分ほどでメインのアルボンディガスが熱々で登場。ワインのコルクを金属で束ねた鍋敷きが面白い。一口食べて見るとマジ熱い！！肉団子は大きめなのでそのまま口に入れたら大変。フォークで小さくしてから食べることをオススメする。十分冷ましてから口に運ぶと赤ワインをガブ飲みしたくなるほど濃い味付けにビックリ。食事としてはもう少し薄味の方が好み。無料でターメリックライスを大盛りにできるので、そちらの方がバランス的には良かったかもしれない。
