WAI in serious mode might be pretty cool.
September 2013 A few additions. I had some doubts about Ajillo at the Musako store (Dining Bar), so I tried some at the main store. (Just one plate and a small beer) ◆Peeled shrimp Ajillo (700 yen) This time, I confirmed that the main store cooks the garlic properly to give it flavor. I'm not an expert in that field, so the flavor isn't perfect, but it's a delicious dish because of the sense of unity between the ingredients and the oil. ***************** December 2011 The last time I went there, it was just after the second store opened and it was in a hectic state, so I didn't leave a good impression. Because of this, I didn't have many opportunities to go there, but this time I was able to participate in a year-end party for local people. There were quite a few dishes that I found delicious when I tried them again, and they were different from the busy dishes I had before. It was a large party where seats were moved around, so I may have overlooked something... ◆Salad This salad uses a lot of mizuna, a vegetable that doesn't have a lot of flavor. And the dressing was more carefully prepared than I expected, making it a delicious dish. ◆Korean marinated octopus and cucumber Octopus and cucumber marinated in a spicy sauce. The octopus was cooked more carefully than I expected, and had a great texture and taste. ◆Cheese cream bread gratin It looked like a simple bread gratin, but the sauce was richer and more delicious than I expected. From this point on, the kitchen starts to gear up. ◆Tandoori Chicken w/ Tortilla This was delicious. I think the tandoori chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned (this time). The texture of the tortilla was wonderful, and it really captured the flavor of the chicken. ◆Spicy taco rice (maybe?) Taco sauce, mizuna, arugula (kana), and cherry tomatoes are placed on white rice, and seasoned with mayonnaise. The taco sauce hidden under the vegetables didn't look like much, but it was packed with spiciness and flavor, so it might have been well balanced. I think there were a few more dishes after that, but this is all that remains in the photo. I am thinking back that WAI, which I became serious about, might be a bit amazing. 2022.10 It's been a long time since I came to WAI about 10 years ago. 10 years ago, the restaurant was more about food than food, but all three dishes this time were delicious, and I get the impression that the restaurant has changed into a place where you can enjoy the food. I arranged about 3 dishes from the blackboard menu to accompany the raw food. ◆ Grilled chicken skirt steak with chive green onion sauce (¥660) Chewy chicken skirt steak grilled to a juicy consistency and tossed with spicy chive green onion sauce. What surprised me was how delicious the leek sauce was, and it was an effort, or rather an idea, that I hadn't seen 10 years ago. Coupled with the perfect cooking, the first dish was simply delicious. ◆Isobe Fried Lotus Roots (¥550) It's a dish with a simple recipe, but I think it's a dish that will make you want to put down your chopsticks in haste if you fail to cook it. However, just like the first dish, this dish is cooked evenly throughout, allowing you to enjoy the pure deliciousness of the piping hot lotus root. ◆Mini curry (¥440) Finish with mini curry with brown rice. I don't think I had this 10 years ago, so it's my first time, but the curry sauce has both the flavor of the base stock and the aroma of spices, and it's honestly delicious. It's been a long time since I last visited WAI Higashi-Koganei. I don't know if it's the same chef as back then, but the food turned out really delicious.
