A soba bar loved by locals
Carefully hand-made 90% buckwheat soba. Sake snacks made with seasonal ingredients. Carefully selected sake. A relaxing space that combines the good old "Japanese soba shop" with the originality of th |
Visited on February 19, 2024. I think this was probably my first time. The noren curtain came out at exactly 11:30, and I entered the store after seeing it. There were no customers before me and two customers after me. The store was renovated and reopened on November 12, 2021, so the interior is very clean. The open kitchen is rare for a soba restaurant, so you can see the cooking scene. In the kitchen, you can see the male manager and two other women. The roots of this restaurant date back to about 100 years ago, when the manager's great-grandfather Umeyoshi opened a soba restaurant in Tsunohazu, Yodobashi-cho, Nishi-Shinjuku. However, since then, there have been periods when the restaurant was not open, so they did not take these into account, and instead started their business in Mejirodai, and this year marks their 17th year since founding. There was no information about the weekday lunch service outside, but when I looked at the menu, I saw the "2024 Weekday Limited Lunch Soba Restaurant Curry Bowl Set (1,000 yen)". I ordered... [b: Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl) Set 1,320 yen (tax included)]. Later, when I looked at the breakdown of the receipt, it looked like this: [b: Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl) 880 yen + set soba 440 yen]. The rice bowl was the main dish. Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl) were made with good ingredients. However, perhaps because there was not much egg or there was a lot of soup, the chicken did not feel like it was wrapped in a soft-boiled egg. The seasoning was elegant. Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl) was dominated by delicious chicken. The soba served in a colander was perfectly chilled. The very thin noodles had a good texture and went down well, and were delicious soba with a firmness. The dipping sauce, which had a light aroma of bonito stock, was light. It was not too thick. It was a well-balanced and elegant Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl) set. However, at this price, I can't come here several times a week. It seemed like there was a breeding ground for exciting new products, including the snacks. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.
