Nostalgic
Upon someone's recommendation a year ago, I gave this place a go. Interesting, it seemed popular. I noticed the shelf of manga, but then I also noticed the smokers. Ok, it's just a ramen place, so I have to consider the target customers.
I ordered the charcoal chicken ramen. I was pleasantly delighted. However, I think the chicken was a little too charcoal burnt. There was also a chili sauce somewhat similar to Indonesian sambal with extra lime juice. Interesting. So the whole thing had a nostalgic, "dirty" food stall taste to it. I'll jot this place down for a quick drop by when I'm in the mood,

SHOWA SHOKUDO serves charcoal barbecued chicken ramen. It is popular among workers and youngsters alike. The price is quite reasonable. The chicken is not the tender chicken, though, but more muscle and chewy parts. The bowl of ramen comes with mitsuba veggies and scallions. There is a big menu, and you can flavor your ramen with soy sauce, miso or spicy sauce. You cam also order set menus with a side of gyoza, charcoal barbecue chicken, and so on. Nice if you want to try the taste of charcoal barbecue chicken in your ramen.
昭和食堂は炭鶏(シャモ)ラーメンがメインです。お客さんは若い労働者が多いです。店は広いが、ちょっと暗いです。シャモラーメンは醤油か味噌か辛くする選択もあります。炭焼き鶏肉の匂いはいいですね。
