JR米沢駅から1分の「牛鍋おおき」さん。創業大正十ニ年、今年100周年を迎えた老舗精肉店が経営する米沢牛専門店です。
系列店が東京駅や銀座にもあります。
土曜日の14時30分近く、ランチ営業時間が終了したお店が多い中、営業中の看板を見つけ飛び込みました。
店内は左手が座敷で20席、右手がテーブルで16席ありました。広々としたお店です。
14時半ラストオーダー、15時閉店とのことなので慌ててメニューをめくると店名にもなっている「米沢牛牛鍋定食」（3500円〜）が気になりましたが、閉店までに食べ終えられるか不安だったので見送り。
「米沢牛ステーキ御膳」（7500円〜）と悩んだ末に米沢牛定食の中から店長おすすめの「米沢牛すみれ漬け定食」（2800円）と生ビールを注文。
まず生ビールで喉を潤していると、程なく定食が運ばれて来ました。
定食はメイン・小鉢・ご飯・味噌汁・お新香の構成。
すみれ漬けは、お店独自の製法や分量で酒粕と味噌を混ぜ合わせて米沢牛を漬け込んだものです。通販でも人気商品とのこと。
米沢牛はもも肉が使用されていました。漬け込むことによって肉の旨みが凝縮されている感じでした。程よい噛み応えも印象的でした。
すみれとは、伝統と先進の精神を今に伝えるお店の商標だそうです。
さりげなく郷土料理の「もってのほか」（食用菊）が添えられているのも嬉しかったです。
ドレッシングが美味しく、レタス・パプリカ・焼きカボチャなどの野菜も存在感がありました。
ラストオーダーの時間は過ぎていましたが、飲み物は追加注文OKとのことで地酒の『月山丸』をオーダー。お肉とよく合う！
調子に乗って『久保桜』も飲んでしまいました。
デザートのゼリーをいただいて退散。30分ほどの滞在時間でしたが、念願の米沢牛を食べることができました。
次は東京の系列店へ牛鍋を食べに行こうと思います。
