This is Shonai-an inside the Shonai Tourism and Products Center in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Due to the heavy snow, I couldn't go out on Saturdays and Sundays, but the weather has finally calmed down, so today I went out with my wife for the first time in a while (lol). I really wanted to eat cold cod soup (Kandarajiru), so I headed for the Shonai Tourist Products Center. On Sunday, the parking lot is about 80% full. It's very crowded in the summer, but it's like this in the winter. It was exactly 12 o'clock, but the food court was empty. There's a long line in the summer, though. Maybe it's because there aren't many out-of-town visitors. Then, I entered Shonai-an, which is located at the back of the product hall. The seasonal cold cod soup set meal is a little expensive at 1,650 yen. There's no hesitation, I came here to eat this. My wife also had cold cod soup. So, I also added an Iso Onigiri for 220 yen. By the way, the full course meal for the Cold Cod Festival starting on the 14th is said to cost 3,000 yen. Cold cod caught in the savage Sea of Japan in the middle of winter is fatty and delicious. The rock seaweed is full of fluff and has a sea-like taste. It was my first time trying cold cod soup, and it did not disappoint. It was delicious. Gottsuosama desu.
