新幹線の新山口で乗り換えて湯田温泉へ
西日本で豊富な湯量を誇るとあった湯田温泉、駅からホテルに向かう公園にあった足湯は真っ暗な中で湯気が立っており、温泉町の不思議なワクワク感が高まってきた。
ホテルに到着したのはもう夜、駅前は寂しかったけれど、ホテルが集中しているエリアは飲食店が並んでいた。ひとまずチェックイン、少し町を歩いたけれどラストオーダーが早く、この日はホテルでおとなしくすることに。
湯田温泉の源泉温度は70度、加水しているらしい。地域を温泉のパイプラインが通っていて、各ホテルや、寮に温泉を供給しているという。熱めの湯、トロトロな肌触りの美肌の湯だった。
温泉のおかげか、暖房無しで、ぐっすりと眠れた。
翌朝、朝食はバイキング形式。
おかずの種類があって目移りするけれど、目玉になるようなおかずがなかったような。
鯖、豚肉と豆腐のショウガ煮、味付けタマゴに唐揚げの甘酢、卯の花ときんぴらこんにゃく、ソーセージに鶏ハンバーグ、マカロニサラダ。豚のショウガ煮がよかった。バイキング台には、残り少なくなっていたけれど、お替りで取りに行く人だろうな。味噌汁が甘かった。甘い味噌なのかな。ただ、おかずを食べた後は、この甘さが旨味に変わっていた。
