ＪＲ下関駅から車で１０分ほどのところにある当店。駐車場あり。当店は、ふぐ料理の公許第１号であること。また、当店で日清戦争の下関条約が締結されたことで知られる。しかし、昭和20年の戦災により全焼したので、実際に締結されたという『２階の大広間』を見ることはできない。が、隣接地に資料館（入館無料）が設けられていて、当時の様子をそちらで再現している。お店は、目の前に関門海峡を臨み、風格のある店構え。店内に入ると一流ホテルのような出迎えを受け、３階の個室の座敷席に案内してもらった。お願いしておいたのは、ふく会席Ａ９６８０円税サ込。参考までに、当店は３回目の利用になるが、夏は同内容で５０００円ほどだから、季節を選ばなければ、そちらの方がお得にふくを食べられる。内容はふくのフルコース。てっさ、てっちり、ふく唐揚げ、ふく真丈、ふく香草焼き、ふく茶碗蒸し、テッピサラダ、雑炊など。しっかり旨いふくを堪能できる。〆の雑炊がまた旨い、旨い。因みにてっちりの語源は、鉄砲とちり鍋。昔、毒に当たれば死ぬということから、フクのことを鉄砲とも言い、また、白身を鍋にするとチリチリと身が縮むことから、それを合わせてだとか。窓から見える関門海峡の早い潮の流れも雄大。料理、景色、お店の雰囲気、何度訪れても素晴らしい。でも、やっぱり次回は、夏に来ようかなと思う小生であった。
