This is a hideaway restaurant in a distribution complex with a wide variety of items, both for eating in and on the terrace.
Sueno Sato Sanyo Onoda is a stone oven bread workshop that offers freshly fried, freshly made, and freshly baked bread. We are proud of the fact that most of our fillings are handmade. We also make ou |
I think it was probably almost 15 years ago that I first went to "Stone Oven Bread Workshop Suenosato Onoda Branch". I can't remember which came first, "Clee Brats" in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture or not, but this bakery is like a benefactor that made me like salt bread. However, because of its location, I couldn't visit again for a while, but when I went there almost 10 years ago, I wasn't very impressed, probably because I had eaten so many salt breads in the meantime, and the same was true for other breads. I went again about 5 years later, but it was sold out and I bought something else, which was better than the first time, but I wasn't as impressed as the first time. And this time, I didn't have any plans to go, but when I suddenly remembered it, I couldn't help but be unable to resist, and it became a rare fourth time. As I have written many times before, I personally decide that the third time is usually a charm, but I see that since I was impressed the first time, this might be different. This is because, after 15 years, the traffic situation has changed, and especially if you are coming from the direction of Ube city, a few years ago, a fine bypass called "Sky Road" was built, which is an elevated road like a tiny Metropolitan Expressway that crosses the factories and the Koto River, making it easier to get to the area where the restaurant is located. However, even if you get on the bypass, you have to get off right away and go on the city road under the elevated road, and the area where the restaurant is located has not changed at all, and with all due respect to the residents, it has a strong feeling of "forgotten land" (for more details, please read the previous post by "Bull's Curry"). However, for the Ryuo Mountain area, "Sky Road" is especially convenient when going to the direction of Ube city. From the above direction, turn right at Nishioki intersection where "Yamaguchi Tokyo University of Science" is located, go straight for a little over 1 km, and it is on the right after crossing the railroad crossing. Coming from Shimonoseki, turn right at the Marukawachi intersection on Route 190, go down the road called Koen-dori, turn left at the Koen-dori intersection, and go through the old Onoda city area, and you will find it 20-30m before the railroad crossing. The private parking lot can accommodate about 10 cars, but it is often full, especially on weekends, and it is so popular that there is a security guard. Well, you will understand if you go there, but it is surprising that so many customers come to such a remote place. This may be because it was a pioneer of this kind of stone oven bread in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The parent company is Sankai Food Industry Co., Ltd., which also owns Kogetsudo in the Asa district of the city, and they probably shifted their focus to the bread department, so they have a branch in the distribution center in Asada, Yamaguchi City. However, this time, probably because I visited at 3:30 p.m. on a weekday, there were only 2-3 cars parked there. On the other hand, it is probably because of the trust that they have as the pioneer of stone oven bread in Yamaguchi Prefecture that they have a certain number of customers. Nowadays, when it comes to suburban stone oven bread, the parking lot is not large, both inside and outside the store, and although there is coffee service, terrace seating outside the store as shown in the picture, and although there is an eat-in area, it is completely visible from the reserved parking lot, and it seems out of date, but the trust is enough to transcend these problems. This time, I had half given up because there was no salt bread, but a young female employee announced in a cheerful voice, "The salt bread is baked!" even though there were not many customers, so I couldn't help but buy it, and even though it was such a late time, they baked a tray full of dozens of breads and sold them out, so I can see that they are still moderately popular. Anyway, this time I purchased the following three items. ① Salt Bread ¥ 105 I tried it again this time, and it was delicious as expected. It was a very ordinary salt bread, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but I suddenly noticed that the salt was quite large and quite strong. Some people like it and others dislike it, but I personally like it. ② Petit Jam Bread ¥ 85 I bought it because I was attracted by the sale-like pop-up as shown in the photo, and although the taste is as you would expect, I wonder if it's because it's too sugary and not fruity, even though sweetness is less in this day and age? ③ Mentaiko Mayo Bread ¥ 160 The moderate saltiness makes it seem like it could be a snack, but it seems a bit nervous to take it one step further, which was a little disappointing. 》 A dish that mayo lovers can't resist If they were a little more forward like that pop-up, for example, by increasing the amount of ingredients, and accepting that it doesn't matter if it's too salty, it would be the best mentaiko bread for me. That being said, when I ate the bread again, I realized it was a delicious bakery, but when it comes to the dough, serious bread lovers might be a little skeptical. However, it's probably the seasoning that makes it taste good, and conversely, like ②, they try too hard to be liked by everyone, so sometimes it's unclear, but overall I think it's a well-made bakery. ● Personal Tabelog rating: 3.7 *Prices are from before October 2019, before the tax increase
