岩国・錦帯橋の観光に来たら、ここで「岩国寿司」を食べないわけには行きません。ランチの「岩国寿司膳」は、程よいボリューム感で満足必至です。
ここは宿泊施設もある立派なレストラン。
接客も丁寧で、観光や地元の酒蔵の説明もしていただきました。
「岩国寿司」は、吉川藩の城下町として栄えた町が生んだ文化遺産のひとつで、創建300年ほどの五連アーチ橋「錦帯橋」と共に、岩国の名物となっています。
江戸時代に藩主・吉川公に献上され「殿様寿司」とも呼ばれる押し寿司で、山城へ運搬するために考案され、れんこんの酢漬け、伝統野菜のチシャ、アナゴの煮付け、錦糸卵、でんぶなどの豪華な食材を使い、3～5段に重ね、木製の大きな寿司枠で大人数分を作り切り分けるのが特長です。祝いの席の特別に華やかな料理です。

名物が二つ。岩国寿司に、「大平」という汁物。
「大平」とは鶏出汁の吸い物に、名物のれんこん、大根、人参などが入った具沢山の汁物。
「岩国寿司」には、たっぷりの錦糸卵に、桜でんぶ、そして、穴子や椎茸。様々の味が口の中で弾けます。
さらに、茶碗蒸し、小鉢、デザートがのった、ランチに最適のセット。
