しかし、私には気になることがありました。
それは、この時間帯になって有料試飲ができるか否か、ということ。
体験試飲が終わり、参加者の皆様はその場に残って白州を楽しんでいましたが、私はひとり、近くにいた従業員に「この時間でまだ有料試飲ができるのか？」と尋ねるとギリギリできるとの回答。
早速その場所まで連れてっていただきました。とはいっても、体験試飲会の会場の横なんですけどね。
私がこの蒸溜所見学で一番楽しみにしていたこと。それがこの有料試飲です。
蒸溜所内には「BAR 白州」という有料試飲専門のバーがあります。
白州蒸溜所に来てなんですが、私が好きなサントリーのウイスキーといえば山崎。
ノンエイジ、12年、18年は飲んだことがありますが、25年はボトルすら見た事がありません。
注文カウンターに向かい、メニューを見てみるとありました！山崎の25年。
ハーフショット(15ml)で2900円ですがもうこの先、このボトルに出会うこともないでしょう。奮発します。
「ボトルを撮影してもいいですか？」
バーカウンターの店員に聞くと「もちろんです！」どの回答。
もうここまで来るとミーハー丸出しです(笑)
初めて出会う25年物の山崎は、琥珀と呼ぶに相応しい色味。18年のシェリーカスクとは違い、12年をもっと濃くした、厚みのある味わい。
しかし、12年を飲み慣れていると少し違和感があるのは仕方ないかなと思います。
好きとか嫌いとかではなく、「山崎の25年を飲んだ」というだけで満足です(笑)
