"Eurasia Shokudo Sarabi" has opened in the dining area adjacent to the "Arimatsu Shibori Cafeterias" in Midori Ward, Nagoya City, and we discovered a restaurant that specializes in Ukrainian, Russian, and Chinese cuisine!! This place is on the "old Tokaido" and is a place that symbolizes the prosperity of the era when Arimatsu Shibori flourished. I thought the owner was from Arimatsu, but he is actually from Aichi Prefecture. He is a bit shy, and according to his official website, he is also interested in the situation in Myanmar and Ukraine. ❖Reservations are best, even for lunch!! The restaurant is run by the owner alone, so it cannot handle large crowds. It seems that beetroot "borsch" is difficult to get in due to seasonal cuisine and the recent situation in Russia. ❖Order (Lunch course 2500 yen) 1) Ukrainian & Stroganoff Lunch Course ・Appetizer (Ukrainian buckwheat, etc.) ・Ukrainian-style boiled Gyoza / Dumpling (with potatoes) ・Syi (traditional cabbage and bean soup) ・Homemade Russian bread and Ukrainian bread ・Beef Stroganoff (St. Petersburg) 2) Pilisna Urker 700 yen (Czech 4%) x 2 3) Tsingtao beer 600 yen (Chinese 4.7%) x 1 My impression is that it's not a dish that hits you hard, but it fills you up. Total 4500 yen. ★This will be on the exam!! ↓ ❖Ukrainian events related to the Italian movie "Sunflowers" overlap with the story during the invasion of Ukraine. A video of a Ukrainian old woman trying to give a Russian soldier with a gun to a sunflower seed has spread on social media!! ↓ The SNS video was taken in the port city of Khenichesk in southern Ukraine, and ↓ She told one Russian soldier, "What are you doing on our land!!" "You should put sunflower seeds in your pocket" "That way, even after you die, sunflowers will grow on Ukraine's land." The story of the movie "Sunflowers" is that during World War II, Italian soldiers were sent to Russia, froze to death in the winter of the Soviet Union, now Ukraine, and the soldiers from each country were buried there, and the place became a "sunflower field." The movie "Sunflower Field" is set in Kherson, Ukraine!! The words spoken by the old woman to the Russian soldier in the movie "Sunflowers" and the devastation in Ukraine were painfully conveyed to people. ❖Related sites [a:https://comemo.nikkei.com/n/n34e3d0833011,NIKKEI COMEMO] [a:https://www.bbc.com/japanese/video-60533687,BBS NEWS] ❖[a:https://www.sarabi-nagoya.jp/goods_all/,Sarabi's official site] In recent years, I have become interested in simple and rustic Russian Cuisine and local cuisine from various parts of Eurasia. I used to be a Chinese chef, and I also worked with a teacher from Hong Kong in my early 20s, so I think I may have had the soil to accept other cultures. ❖Arimatsu? Arimatsu was annexed into Nagoya City in 1964, and its history dates back to the time when it was created to develop the area east of Narumi on the old Tokaido road from Chita and Agui villages. Arimatsu Shibori dyeing, which was born in the Edo period, flourished as a major industry and became the foundation of the current streetscape. The Nagoya air raid reduced Nagoya to ashes, but there was a foreign prisoner of war camp north of the Meitetsu train line in Arimatsu, which escaped the raid, and it is said that an incendiary bomb dropped on Narumi by chance fell north of National Route 1 in Arimatsu. (Information from a local resident) Narumi also has a legend related to Emperor Yamato Takeru, and there is still a temple there today that was not burned down in the air raid. My ancestors? During the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods before the war, they were involved in the Arimatsu Shibori business, and it turns out that the dyeing that her mother was doing at the Arimatsu Shibori Kaikan was "Miura Shibori"!! (From the woman demonstrating) The legendary grandmother who is a Living National Treasure and who demonstrates at the Arimatsu Shibori Kaikan is a relative on my mother's side. I remember taking naps in the sunshine in the hallway as I was a child, next to her as she busily dyed the Arimatsu Shibori. Incidentally, Boku-chan was neither born nor raised in Arimatsu. That's all.
