First day in Ehime. I visited Igyo-ya Gyokeimaru for a meal with my business partner. It is located in the Nibancho area, about a 5-minute walk from Okaido Station. Gyokeimaru is a restaurant that serves delicious fish! It was recommended by a super gourmet friend in Ehime. I made a reservation a few days in advance and visited at 18:30. The interior is casual. There are 24 seats in total, including counters, tables, semi-private rooms, and private rooms. The three of us sat at a semi-private table for four. We toasted with draft beer and the fun party started. The menu was quite extensive, including creative dishes. This time, we had the following. ・Appetizer: Firefly squid salad. ・Assorted sashimi x 3 servings A gorgeous assortment of 12 kinds! Of course, it was very fresh! ・Sea urchin with spinach, butter and soy sauce The most popular menu item! The rich agate sauce is so delicious! With a baguette. ・Jakoten: Ehime's specialty jakoten. Freshly baked and delicious!・Exquisite minced meat cutlet x 3 pieces Truly exquisite minced meat cutlet with an explosion of meat juice. It doesn't need any sauce or anything. ・Fried Cape Horse Mackerel Horse mackerel fries made with Ehime Prefecture's brand horse mackerel "Misaki horse mackerel". The meat is thick and fluffy and super delicious! Gyokeimaru's Fried food are also delicious. I had it with soy sauce + tartar sauce. ・Grilled whitebait with soy sauce The season for grilled whitebait with soy sauce is about to end. It was cooked perfectly. ・Chawanmushi with whitebait x 3 servings The soy sauce grilled whitebait was delicious, so I ordered 3 servings of chawanmushi as well. The elegant broth was also good. ・Local Tempura Thickly sliced local Tempura. With salt or tempura sauce. ・ Seafood rice A pile of several types of marinated octopus cut into chunks! I loved it! A must-order! ・Sweet potato mascarpone Even the dessert was stylish and delicious! We each had 3-4 drinks on top of the above, and the bill for the three of us came to 29,800 yen. We ate a lot, so it was a fair amount, but considering how satisfied and full we felt, it was a good value for the money! Gyoeimaru is a place I'd like to go back to right away. Be sure to come with an empty stomach!
