For the final gourmet meal of our trip to Matsuyama, Ehime in early spring, we went to the Dogo branch of Akiyoshi, located near the Botchan Karakuri Clock in front of Dogo Onsen Station. I ordered the specialty Matsuyama Taimeshi without hesitation. My wife was torn between Uwajima Taimeshi and the latter, but she wanted to eat rice in a clay pot, so we went for the Matsuyama Taimeshi. The "Jakoten 3-Kind Taste Comparison" we ordered as an appetizer was delicious enough to be a main dish! It made me want some white rice. There were other attractive dishes on the a la carte menu, but we had to restrain ourselves this time (lol). I thought it would take a while to cook it after we ordered, but it arrived in about 20 minutes. We enjoyed the first bowl as it was, the second bowl with condiments on top, the third bowl with dashi ochazuke poured over the condiments, and the fourth bowl with condiments on top and dashi on a separate plate. Maybe it's because of Matsuyama, but the atmosphere was really comfortable and the hospitality of the staff was so great that I didn't want to leave the restaurant (lol). However, there was already a line outside the restaurant, so I quickly left after eating. It was a delicious sea bream rice and a wonderful restaurant, perfect for the end of my trip to Matsuyama.
