If you want to try Imabari's soul food, roast pork and egg rice, then come here! Daikokuya Restaurant
It all started with Ramen that was started by my grandparents at a food stall! Along with the nostalgic Ramen made with a secret recipe handed down for three generations, we also recommend Daikokuya H |
We visited Daikokuya Restaurant to try Imabari's specialty "Yakibuta Tamagohan" (roasted pork and egg rice). It is a famous restaurant for Imabari's B-class gourmet "Yakibuta Tamagohan" (roasted pork and egg rice), and is one of the four famous restaurants in Imabari city. As we visited a little late, just after 1pm, there was only one other group of customers, so we were able to enter the restaurant without waiting. We sat down and checked the menu, and found a rare dish called curry egg rice... When we asked the staff, they told us that it was not covered in curry roux, but rather curry-flavored roast pork and egg rice. We hesitated, but we ordered the standard roast pork and egg rice with mayonnaise. You can add mayonnaise as a topping for an additional 30 yen. The sauce was neither too sweet nor too strong, and went perfectly with rice. On top of the rice covered in sauce was a generous amount of finely chopped roast pork, a feature of this restaurant, and the yolk of the fried egg was sprinkled with pepper. The fried eggs seem a little smaller than in other restaurants, but like other restaurants, the white is crispy and the yolk is almost raw, making for an outstanding presence. This restaurant serves green onions and pickled ginger on a small plate as condiments, so you can change the flavor to suit your taste. Personally, I was happy with this service, and I was able to enjoy the meal until the very end. I'm also interested in the "meat rice" and "fried chicken," so I'd like to try them if I get the chance.
