Tamai is well known for its udon noodles and store-bought goods. Across the street is a slightly more upscale version of the restaurant, Tamai Soujian. This restaurant was established long ago, but I had never been there before. This was my first visit for lunch. The six sections of the Shokado restaurant Bento (boxed lunch) each contained: - Taro, Shinjo, and eggplant Simmered dish- Spanish mackerel teriyaki, dashimaki, and pumpkin Simmered dish- Marinated white fish Nanbanzuke - Sashimi - Tuna, yellowtail, and octopus Tempura- Sweet potato, Shishito pepper, and squid - Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard). Rice, red miso soup, and pickles All the seasonings were delicious. As expected from Tamamai, where everything is delicious. We added mini udon noodles with miso nikkomi. Miso nikomi udon is also delicious here. The miso is just the right thickness. The noodles are not the core noodles like the ones at Yamamoto-ya. They are a little hard and thick. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, but because it is popular, the service was a bit cluttered, but not to the point of being bothersome. I think it is one of the most user-friendly restaurants.
