Enjoy the taste of this long-established store's freshly baked "Momiji Manju" in the store.
Castella 's Momiji Manju is made with homemade lightly sweetened smooth bean paste and a palm-like elasticity and moderate texture that melts in your mouth. At the 21st National Confectionery Exhibiti
...on, the company received the Honorary Chairman's Award, the Minister's Honor Award at the 23rd, and the Tea Ceremony Master Award at the 26th. You can enjoy freshly baked bread with tea in the store. The teacups are made of Miyajima ware, and the confectionery containers are made of Miyajima crafts. Please come and visit us for a break during your tour of Miyajima. Mail order is also available from the website. Hakataya also sells Miyajima ware, ladles, and souvenirs, and one of their original designs has been selected for a National Traditional Crafts Exhibition. Hakataya also serves as a rest area for the ferry boats that take part in the traditional Miyajima Kangensai Festival (Japan's largest sea festival). Inside the store you'll find many photographs of the festival, as well as prints by the famous printmaker, Iwao Akiyama. There are plenty of surprising discoveries to be made, so please do come and visit us.
