食事の後、研究発表を聞き、3時過ぎの休み時間になると外が晴れてきた。
2泊3日の出張で、観光など出来ないワシは、少なくとも北海道大学内の名所を見ておかねば！と
9月と言うのに蒸し暑い、学内を早足で散策する。
クラーク像、そして楽しみにしていたポプラ並木は・・・・ガーン、数年前の台風でかなりの部分が倒れ、修復中とのことだ！
写真に収め、汗を拭きつつ会場に戻っていると「ソフトクリーム」の昇り旗を発見した。
今日は、結構歩いているし、少々、食べてもいいなと言い訳しながら、コップパンと言う生協（COOP）らしい命名のパン屋さんで
200円のソフトクリームを買う。
コーンは選べず、カップの身で、ウエハースとスプーンがついてくる。
木陰の木製ベンチに腰をおろし、道行く学生の注目を浴びつつ、食べる。
クリームは、中にじゃりじゃりとした氷の粒が入っており、これはあまり売れておらず、水分が再結晶したもののようだ。
肝心のお味も期待していた、北海道産の濃厚な牛乳！！という風味もなく、あっさり、淡白なお味。
定食が419円で結構良かっただけ、半分の値段のソフトクリームが不味いことはない！と早とちりしたワシが悪かった。
