Get off at the Hoheikyo Onsen bus stop on the Jotetsu bus. From downtown Sapporo, take Route 230 towards Nakayama Pass. After passing Jozankei Onsen town on your right, there is a parking area with toilets along the road on your left. A little past that, turn left at the Hoheikyo Dam entrance intersection (there is a sign) and after 600m it is on your left. It is about 35km from downtown Sapporo. Take the Jotetsu bus Hoheikyo Onsen line from the bus terminal at JR Sapporo Station, and get off at the last stop Hoheikyo Onsen after 80 minutes. Get off at Makomanai Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Namboku Line. From the subway station, take the free shuttle bus to the hot springs from next to the Makomanai Junior High School grounds, which is a one-minute walk away. The journey takes about 50 minutes. The bus departs at 10:00am and returns to Hoheikyo Onsen at 3:00pm, with one round trip per day (excluding Sundays and holidays). |

...sit. The hot spring also has three open-air baths, and is the only one in Sapporo that does not use a storage tank. The hot spring water is poured directly from the source underground into each bath, so it does not come into contact with air at all! The water is poured without oxidizing, so of course there is no need for chlorine, and the spring quality does not change and it is highly effective.
