On this day, I came to Ashiya for my twice-monthly hospital visit. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day, but we decided to buy some bread, cakes, etc. from a delicious shop that Ashiya is proud of, and have lunch at this shop near the station. This is an Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), but lunch is a good deal. What I received today was a special lunch that included all three contest-winning dishes. What I thought was particularly delicious was the fried chicken with a distinct bonito flavor, and the braised pork belly topped with a Western-style sauce. The other is Totoro, which is the signature dish of this place, a rice bowl made with pork meat miso, but since the whole thing gets cold, I think there is room for consideration. However, it was a well thought out and delicious dish. It's a strange setting that you can get a second helping of salad, but if you think about your health, you'll be very grateful for such a service.
