It's been more than 10 years since I last visited for a few neighborhood banquets. The counter is made of thick, plain wood, giving it a stately appearance, but the restaurant as a whole has aged and has a down-to-earth feel. In addition to the six counter seats, there are tatami-mat seats and private rooms. It's a little after 11:30 on a weekday, and there is only one customer ahead of us, but the couple is shown to the counter. It seems that the counter seats have been thinned out as a COVID-19 measure. The staff consists of the chef and the proprietress, as well as one man and one woman in the kitchen in the back. There is a menu on a strip of paper in front of the counter, but it seems to be for dinner. The standard menu includes sashimi, grilled fish, rice bowls, noodles, Tempura, and everything else, but they don't seem to have curry rice (lol). There is also a blackboard menu, and everything is around 1,000 yen except for particularly expensive dishes like unaju. They also have 15-grain rice. I ordered "Horse mackerel sashimi and fried horse mackerel" from today's lunch menu for 1,100 yen and "Tenju" from the standard menu for 950 yen. The horse mackerel sashimi is thick and has no strong taste. It is served with ginger and wasabi. The horse mackerel fries are also thick and crispy, but the meat is not firm. The sauce for the tempura is a little strong with sweet and spicy flavor, but the amount is small, so it's not a problem. Tempura includes shrimp, sardines, rape blossoms, maitake mushrooms, lotus root, eggplant, and butterbur shoots, and the ingredients are larger and more varied than I expected, which is nice. There is no smell of oil rising from the stomach after the meal. The rice is a little soft, but the rice itself, as well as the richness of the sauce and the oil of the Tempura, are delicious. The amount may be small for an average man. It seems that you can have as much rice as you want except for the rice bowls, but there was no recommendation for a large portion or 15-grain rice. The miso soup is made with radish scraps and cabbage leaves. The broth is not very strong, but it is still delicious. The chawanmushi has just a few ginkgo nuts and sliced shiitake mushrooms. Spaghetti salad and lettuce are also included. Coffee is also self-service. When I left after 12 o'clock, there were 4 groups of 7 or 8 customers. It was quite popular even though there were no restaurants around.
