Celebrating 40 years since its establishment! The flavors of Sanuki are all gathered here! If you want to know more about Sanuki, come to Iwakyu!
Iwaku Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) with a nostalgic atmosphere that will make even first-time customers say "I'm home" without thinking. You can enjoy hearty dishes such as the local specialty "bone-i |
During my short stay in Takamatsu, I decided to go to some udon restaurants. I assumed that the Sanuki udon boom was over, but that was not the case. I bookmarked some restaurants that were open late on Google Maps and headed out, but many of the restaurants with a Google rating of 4.0 or higher had long lines on the weekends, and it was impossible to predict how many minutes it would take to get in. So I searched for a restaurant that I could get in quickly somewhere near the arcade in the center of Takamatsu, called Furubaba-cho or Marugame-cho, and ended up at Sanuki no Aji Iwaku. The restaurant was located at the end of an alley. Maybe they were celebrities? There were autographed posters and other things on display. There were about two groups of men who seemed to be regulars inside the restaurant, where nostalgic J-pop was playing. I thought it was a udon restaurant, but it actually served Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) menu items, so maybe we were out of place (lol). Anyway, I ordered Kamatama Udon to satisfy my hunger. The Kamatama Udon arrived at my table about 10 minutes after I ordered. The dashi soy sauce is at the bottom of the bowl, so I was told to stir it well. After finishing work and taking the Shinkansen and Marine Liner, the first udon I had was not what I was expecting, and to be honest, it wasn't what I was expecting. It might be fine as another dish on Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) menu... I ate the noodles to the last drop, but left a bit of the dashi soy sauce and egg. Also, there was a sticker on the door outside the store that suggested it was cashless, such as credit cards, but in reality they only accepted cash. As someone who doesn't carry much cash around, I was quite worried (lol).
