I thought, "I'm sure there used to be Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) or yakitori restaurant around here," so I asked the owner. He told me that it used to be called [b:Yuzo], but it closed about a year ago. The owner returned to the country. [a:rstlst, MAYA] opened in August last year (2008). It's a small shop with 6 counter seats, 4 table seats, and 8 raised seats. The young owner runs it alone. I think it was around 7pm on a Sunday, but there were no customers. It's in a bad location, and I don't think it's advertised. It's about a 5-minute walk from Okurayama Station, but it's outside the downtown area. It's right next to the Oazuto intersection, which is famous for its traffic jam information. It's on the second floor of a building just past the fire station. The draft beer is Premium Malt's. A medium mug costs 700 yen. For snacks, I ordered the Whale Ghost Sweet Chili Sauce for 700 yen. There are some unusual snacks. Other dishes that caught my interest were stingray fin stewed with kimchi, Simmered dish pork belly cartilage, and samosas. There are a variety of curries available, including eggplant and tomato keema curry (800 yen), Seafood white curry (1000 yen), seafood curry (1000 yen), chicken nanban curry (1000 yen), grilled cheese curry (1000 yen), beef tendon bokkake curry (1200 yen), and grilled Steak curry (1500 yen), but I went for the simple chicken curry (700 yen). It was spicy, slightly hot, and had a rich flavor that was very delicious. The only disappointment was that there wasn't much roux. I ended up with some rice left over. ・Ghost Whale 700 yen ★★ ・Chicken Curry 700 yen ★★★☆
