It's a "last stronghold" Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in Totsuka that's open late into the night (or rather, until the early hours of the morning). It's been talked about for its delicious food since it first opened. I've been there a few times, but this was my second visit. I went there on a Friday, drinking alone after the last train. It was crowded at this time. The counter seats on the first floor were taken, so I was shown to a large table for four on the second floor, which was a shame... (A group came later and moved there!) It has a calm and relaxed atmosphere, but the customers are mostly young people around college age, and the conversations I could hear were youthful and lively. I ordered a Konahiki highball, a hot salad of grilled spring cabbage, simmered sardines with plums, and steamed rice with moonlight lily root and crab. There are many highballs to choose from, but it was sweet. It was sweet like a ginger highball. It was a mistake. I don't like sweet drinks with meals. I have to read the instructions carefully before I order. However, I think it's a delicious drink on its own, regardless of the timing. I was surprised at how delicious the grilled spring cabbage was. The anchovies are a little salty, but if you're drinking alcohol, this is fine. The natural sweetness and saltiness of the cabbage work together to bring out the flavor. The charcoal charcoal is also fragrant and delicious. Even if you come with a large group, you'll want to have the whole plate all to yourself! I don't know much about steamed crab rice, but I was attracted to the word crab, so I ordered it. It satisfied my desire to eat crab. It seems to refer to glutinous rice that is soaked in water and steamed with bamboo leaves. I understood after eating it. It's rice that is as close to mochi as possible. It can be said to be mochi that is close to rice. It's chewy and firm. This is quite filling. I don't think it tasted much like crab? But it was delicious. The simmered plums were refreshing and good. The steamed rice was quite hearty (well, they are both dishes that could be served as main dishes), so I thought it was a good choice of menu to change my impression. There are many other menus I would like to order! But it's not a particularly cheap place...and I need to lose weight...I wonder when I can go next.
