Our hotel used to be the only hotel around Ebina Station. It was the Okura Frontier Hotel Ebina, famous as a city hotel with banquet halls and Restaurants. After that, several so-called business hotels specializing in lodging were built at the east and west exits. In December 2018, the hotel was taken over by Rembrandt HM, a subsidiary of Rembrandt HD Co., Ltd., which is carrying out business revitalization (succession). The company operates 10 hotels, including those in the vicinity, but it was surprising to see how times have changed since it was originally involved in a (completely) different business when it was first established. Our restaurant is positioned as a coffee shop located in front of the hotel entrance. It is characterized by its open layout. The breakfast All-you-can-eat buffet is called "Breakfast in Ebina." It is locally produced and consumed in Kanagawa Prefecture. For example, eggs from Shimizu Keien in the southern part of Ebina City, Tamago-san (TKG-exclusive soy sauce: Inoue soy sauce) from Midori Ward, Sagamihara City, and Kintaro milk from Ashigara Dairy in Nakai Town. I had been staying at the hotel since yesterday, so I used it for breakfast. The admission fee is 1,980 yen for hotel guests and 2,530 yen for non-guests. It's a mid-range price. The restaurant opens at 7:00. I went to the front desk 5 minutes before but they were setting up. They opened a little later than the scheduled time. I handed my breakfast ticket to the black-suited staff and was free to do whatever I wanted (not many people ate). The omelettes were made by a chef, which is rare for a hotel of this class. I put the numbered ticket I was given on the table and they brought it to me. I asked for a plain one (the ketchup was probably Shimizuya, a Yokohama-born company). For the main dish, there was grilled pork marinated in miso (there are many pig farms in the central part of the prefecture), sausage, bacon, and grilled fish (mackerel and salmon). Two Small dish (okra and molokheiya, and boiled hijiki), natto, and salad were prepared, followed by rice, miso soup, and pickles. It's unusual that pickles are prepared in advance on a small plate. The miso soup is topped with nameko mushrooms, but green onions and wakame seaweed are prepared separately. The two Small dish are of good quality. The pork was soft and tasty, but not very visually appealing. The sausage was so chewy that I thought it was salami. The rice was okay, and the miso soup had just the right amount of broth. I had a second helping of rice and then TKG. The egg was delicious, as expected. It had quite a rich flavour. The soy sauce was quite strong. After the meal, I had coffee and yogurt. There weren't many dishes to choose from, but the food was well-priced and well-prepared.
