We visited the Tempura Shinjuku Tsunahachi Kyoto store located in the Dining Garden Kyo Corridor on the 7th floor of Kyoto Takashimaya SC in Shijo-dori Kawaramachi Nishiiruma-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is located about a 1-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Main Line and about a 5-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line, making it easy to access by public transportation. It is convenient for cars as there is a shared parking lot with approximately 1,300 spaces. There are 39 seats, 26 at tables, and 13 at the counter. If you sit at the counter, you can watch Tempura being fried right in front of you, which will whet your appetite. It's nice to sit at the counter so you can enjoy freshly fried food. This time, I ordered the Edo Maezen (5,280 yen) as a main dish. The Edo-mae meal consists of today's Small dish, prawns, squid, two seafood dishes, two vegetables, conger eel, tomato juice, kakiage, a set dish or tenchazuke/small Ten-don (tempura rice bowl). The two seafood dishes in the Edomae meal are basically either scallops, abalone, or crab, so it is recommended for those who like seafood. The crispy battered Tempura was piping hot and delicious. Sake and Tempura go well together, so you can also enjoy drinking alcohol. Tempura Tsunahachi first opened its doors in Shinjuku Kakuzu in 1922, and has since expanded throughout the country to include the Tokyo metropolitan area, Sapporo, Toyama, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka. You can enjoy authentic Edomae Tempura. I think it can be used in a wide variety of situations, such as family meals, business dinners, and entertaining business associates.
