「京都といえばおばんざい」
東北の知人を連れての訪問だった。驚いたのが「おばんざいのおの文字も聞いたことがない程にそれが何なのか分からない」と言うのだ。なのでアテンドするならどこが良いかと考えた結果、おくどはんへ。
連れは、美しい小鉢とひとつひとつ丁寧な仕事で仕上げられたおばんざいに感動していた。食文化を大事にしているのが伝わると。やたらめったらに濃い東北の料理とはまた違う奥深さがあるなぁと感心のご様子(※いやぁ私からすれば東北は東北で良いと思いますけども^^;)。
まぁ兎にも角にも、"京都らしさ"というのを感じていただけたのだと思う。出汁文化とか県民性ゆえのおもてなしの心だったりとか、家庭のおかず=おばんざいされてきた京文化を感じるにはそりゃ満足だろう。
私は関西育ちなため、おばんざいという自体は割と身近な言葉だったが、客人招いて感想を聞き、改めて生まれ育った郷土文化を見直せた。
そうそう、綺麗だしひとつずつちゃんと作り込まれてるのが凄いんだよね。感動するよね。それを感じていただけたのは、おくどはんだったからに違いない。
私は今回おばんざいにせず、お店の実力を確かめるべく、穴子の天ぷら丼にしてみた。名物が美味いのは当たり前だ、店としてどうなんだと(笑)なんて偉そうな。
ちなみに穴子天丼にしても丁寧な味付けの小鉢は付いてくる。天ぷら丼に合う味付けで。
穴子一匹とお野菜の天ぷらが乗った豪快な丼。
衣は軽快な食感を鳴らし、素材の味を丁重に閉じ込めている。いくらの塩辛さがアクセント的で良いあんばいなのだ。
感想としては、これだけのおばんざいを作れるのだから他の料理が美味しくないわけがないのである。当たり前のことに気付いたといったところか(笑)
何せ開店前から行列ができる店だ。
予約して行くか開店前から並ぶかが賢い選択だろう。
