A Japanese Cuisine located in Gion, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. This is a sister store of Tominokoji Yamagishi in Nakagyo Ward, and has a review score of 3.56. It's been open for about a year now, and reservations are hard to come by. The restaurant already has a high rating, but it's so popular it's likely to get an even higher rating. The main store in Tominokoji apparently serves many dishes that are both impactful and visually appealing (such as the sea urchin dog). I heard that the Gion store focuses on relatively traditional Japanese Cuisine. This time, I had the seasonal kaiseki dinner. The menu is seasonal, so you can see all the options by checking the menu. Right from the start, we had a luxurious meal of abalone and ginkgo nuts served with glutinous rice. This is followed by sashimi, soup, a seasonal platter, grilled tilefish, somen noodles, rice with red miso soup, and a dessert. The portions were good and the flavors were good, and even for someone like me who is not used to eating authentic kaiseki meals, I was impressed. This time, the sashimi and the rice served at the end (cooked with sea bream and manganji peppers) were particularly impressive. Oh, be careful because they make a surprisingly large amount of rice for the final meal. It would be nice if I could make it into Onigiri or something to take home...
