[Kyoto Demachiyanagi, Private rooms available] When it comes to "tsukemono sushi" in Kyoto, "Kiyosu" is the place to go. Delicious and healthy, a long-established restaurant
Kiyosu's specialty "Tsukemono Sushi" is an exquisite combination of pickled seasonal ingredients and vinegared rice, and it has a strong flavor even without soy sauce, so you can eat it as it is. In a |
We decided to look for a place to eat near Demachiyanagi. We heard that there was a good restaurant in Demachi Masugata Shopping Street across the Kamo River, so we went there, but it seemed to be a popular restaurant, so we couldn't just walk in. So we decided to look for a restaurant near Demachi Masugata Shopping Street again. We found two restaurants with the name "Kappo"! The other one didn't have a menu outside, so it was hard to tell what kind of restaurant it was, so we went into this other one. The inside had a slightly luxurious atmosphere, especially the wall behind the counter. We were greeted by a spirited chef and a landlady who spoke in a natural Kyoto dialect. There was a semi-private tatami room available, so we went there. Looking at the menu, Sushi and the other dishes were nothing special. Maybe it's because we're used to looking at Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) menus... Anyway, we ordered whatever we wanted to eat. All the dishes were delicious and satisfying, and the taste was appropriate for the atmosphere of the restaurant. Sushi toppings were thick and delicious. However, while the ark shell cost 800 yen and you'd think this was a restaurant of that calibre, the nigiri Sushi was very crudely made...it was starting to lose its shape, there was wasabi on the sides...I wish they'd put more effort into adding value that sets them apart from your average Japanese-style meal or Sushi.
