Perfect for enjoying Kyoto cuisine ◎ An izakaya where you can enjoy dishes made with local vegetables, ingredients from Kyoto, and Kyoto duck.
[Fresh seasonal fish/Kyoto sticky pork/Kyoto duck/Kyoto vegetables/carefully selected local sake] Enjoy dishes made with ingredients from Kyoto. Our proud duck loin and duck shabu-shabu have a soft te |
Today's lunch was at "Bokura no Cafeterias", an Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) located at the west end of Marutamachi-dori, opposite Kyoto Municipal Saga Elementary School. It's in Saga, but it doesn't have a touristy feel. The interior makes use of the texture of wood. The partitions are also made of wood. The set menu is a Nikomi Hamburg or Chicken Nanban. But, since it's Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), I'm curious, so I ordered the "Otsukuri Set Meal" for 1,650 yen. It comes with rice, miso soup, and a heap of side dishes on a square plate. You can see how many dishes there are from above. Boiled bean sprouts and cabbage are laid out on the bottom. The front half is a platter of obanzai (traditional side dishes). The red konnyaku is elaborate. The main sashimi is a luxurious dish of sea bream, bonito, and salmon. As you'd expect from an Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), it's large and fresh. It's a restaurant I'd like to visit in the evening as well.
