[Matoya Oyster] 63 years since the establishment of Oyster specialty inn
Established 63 years ago. A hotel that specializes in Matoya oyster cuisine. We are proud of our full course Oyster menu, which includes raw Oyster, grilled Oyster, fried Oyster, and of course, our he |
I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try Matoya oysters. Oyster restaurants all say that Matoya Bay oysters are the best. I'd like to try them, but I've never seen them in supermarkets or department stores in Tokyo. I happened to see "Bananaman's Sekakuna Gourmet" (TBS) and learned that Matoya oysters are available, so I booked a stay with the "Matoya Oysters with Sashimi Platter Plan". Matoya Bay is quiet and silent. The appetizers are all about oysters. The raw oysters were excellent. (If you don't like raw oysters, you can change to a different dish.) Apart from the four kinds of tuna sashimi, the sea bream, flounder, and yellowtail were very crunchy and delicious. We had grilled oysters, mizore hotpot, oyster Sushi, oyster chowder, and then fried oysters. (This is the dish that made Bananaman Himura faint.) Hmm, it's certainly delicious, but I don't think it will make you faint (lol) The oyster rice is also delicious. Pickles and dessert are also included. Oysters are farmed all over the country, but the current farming method was established by Dr. Tadatake Sato, who was born here. Even when the GHQ issued a ban on eating raw oysters immediately after the war, Tadatake Sato developed a sterilization method that is still used around the world today. It is unclear whether Matoya oysters will continue to be eaten in the future. Last year, rising seawater temperatures killed 90% of the oysters in Toba, and three-quarters of those in Matoya. Oysters can be eaten all year round in Matoya Bay, including in summer.
