仙台の繁華街の中心、国分町にある創業100年という老舗寿司店。実際は一度閉店したところを、以前に修行されていた現大将が戻ってきて承継したという流れらしい。
今回、人の紹介で縁あって暖簾をくぐらせていただいた。入ると奥に向かって長く、手前には複数の個室席、一番奥にカウンター席という配置。高級感というよりは、品の良い佇まいの店内。
今回はカウンターに通していただく。
座ると、
・アラカルトよりもおまかせがおすすめであること
・寿司だけもできること
を伝えられ、おまかせのお値段を訊ねると5,000円と10,000円があるというので、10,000円のおまかせでお願いすることに。
おまかせは特にコースが決まっているわけではないようで、大将が今日の食材と、お客さんとの会話で決めていく様子。個人的にはカウンター寿司店のこの流れは大好きなので、その時点で嬉しくなる。
冒頭から煮鮑や熟成白身のアテなど、おそらくこの日の美味しいものを片っ端から出してくれる。このお店の10,000円おまかせは大将がリミッターを外してくれるコース、そんな印象。
何よりも嬉しいのは、あまりに日本酒が料理と合うため楽しんでいると、いろいろなお料理を少しずつ出してくれること。それなりに大箱のお店でこの気配りは大変なはずだが、やはりせっかくの仙台、美味しいものをいろいろ食べたい客側としては嬉しい。
お酒も充実。お酒の種類、そして合わせる料理で温度帯も提案してくれるのが楽しい。隠し酒も置いているようで、これもまた嬉しい。
大将も女将さんも会話が楽しく、あっという間の食事終了。お料理よし、おもてなしよし、肩肘張らずに食べさせてくれる雰囲気よし。お会計は15,000円を少し超えましたが、それ以上に食べて飲んだので十分許容範囲。
仙台は素材にこだわるような寿司の名店も多々ありますが、こうした小料理タイプのお寿司も楽しいもの。仙台の寿司の選択肢として一度足を運んでおくのは良さそうです。
