こちらは仙台は国分町にある炉端焼きの発祥のお店。
以前は独立した建物だったようですが、現在は国分町のビルに入っていて
奥まったところに入り口があるために迷う方も少なくないのだとか。
確かにビルの正面に置き看板がありますが、少々分かり難いかも知れません。
看板の灯りを見つけてビルの奥へと進むと、年代物の天然木に力強い文字で
店名が書かれた看板が店の入り口に掲げられています。
この入り口は自動ドアになっていますが、これを抜けると今度は杉玉と障子戸がお出迎え。
それでは、と、この戸を開けても、また目に飛び込んでくるのは左手の障子戸と奥へと続く廊下。
何か、マトリョーシカを大きい方から順に開けているような気持ちになりますが、
この左手の障子戸を開くとようやく炉端に辿り着きます。
店内は、畳敷の炉端を囲む低い作りのカウンターが16席ほど。
他にも店の奥には2卓合わせて12、3席程のテーブル席があるそうです。
店内をしばし見回すと、花や民芸調の飾りが色々と飾られていますが
炉端の周辺はもとより、その他の梁や建具などの時に馴染んだ風合いが
何より落ち着く空間を作っています。
そしてこの空間を最も穏やかに、落ち着くものにしているのが店主ご夫妻の温かい対応。
基本的には炉端周辺でご対応されるのは奥様ですが、新たにお客様がいらっしゃると
奥の厨房からご主人が出ていらして、一言ご挨拶をされる様子が何でも無いようでいて
とても温かみを感じさせてくれます。
事前に食前酒を少々頂いた後の訪問で、この後の予定もあったものですから
軽くつまむ程度と思っていたのですが、腰を据えることにしてメニューを拝見します。
料理については、最初に三品が出されることは承知していましたので
それほど他のものは無いのかと思っていたのですが、思いのほか豊富な内容。
壁に掲げられた短冊も含めて、刺身から鍋物、それに酒のアテ的なものまで揃っています。
飲み物に関しては、やはり天賞が中心。本醸造から純米吟醸、にごり酒と置かれていて、
麦酒はスーパードライの瓶のみ、他には梅酒に焼酎3種に、ノンアルコールカクテルに
ソフトドリンク程度。
当夜頂いたのは以下の内容で、お会計は5,000円ほど。
・お膳三品（穴子蒲焼き／鶏と麩の煮物／おひたし） 1,260円
・ひらめ刺身 1,260円
・さんま焼き 630円
・にごり酒 630円
・天賞 辛口独眼竜 一合八勺 840円
・天賞 本醸造 一合 420円
最初に出されたお膳の三品が基本的に濃い目の味付けだったためか、
それとも、甕で寝かされた本醸造のぬる燗がまろやかだったためなのか、
いや、おそらくご主人と女将さんの対応がとても心地良かったためでしょうが
ついつい飲みすぎてしまい、ご馳走様。
奥様の温かい言葉を背中に感じながら、日が落ちて少し冷えてきた仙台の街へと
繰り出すのでした。
こういったお店に出会えるのも旅の楽しさですね。
