【ホヤ伝説は本当なのか】
よく関東で新鮮だというホヤに巡り合うと、それでも自分は美味しいと思って食べていた。
しかし、現地での食味を知る人に言わせたら「現地で食べたほうが何十倍もウマい」と必ず聞かされてきた。
そう、多くの酒飲みならこのフレーズは耳が痛くなるほど言われてきた、いわばホヤ伝説。
この伝説を確認するため、ようやくその機会を今回30年ぶりに得ることができた。
まさに、この店こそ“うってつけ”なのではなかろうかと思い、ググって見つけた同店へ飛び込んでみたわけですわ。
【アクセスがなかなか難しい】
案外見つけにくいこのお店は、「麵屋正宗」というラーメン屋が1階に入っている菊水ビルの3階にある。
自分自身もグーグルマップで探しながら彷徨ってしまった。
地元の人なら「広瀬通り」と「駅前通り」が重なる交差点の南西側にあるといえば通じるのでしょうかね。
要は雑居ビルの上階にあるから「麵屋正宗」を目印に目指した方が分かりやすい。
ちなみに当ビル3階フロアに降り立った瞬間からお店に入店したことになるので覚悟されたい。
（躊躇できないということね）
【噂が噂を呼ぶ案件はいかに？】
この日は2軒目となることもあって早速、地酒と「宮城県産活ほやの刺身」をオーダー。
手始めに「ほやのポタージュ」なる突き出しが登場してビックリ。
メニューを見ると･･･
なるほど、ほやに特化しているとはいえメニューの90～95％はホヤが入ったメニューとなっていた。
これはすごいお店だ。
こんな唯我独尊スタイルのお店は、おそらくこの三陸方面でなければ成り立たない商売であろうかと思う。
いくばくかして「ホヤの刺身」が登場するのだけど、フォルムからして自分の知るホヤの刺身とは全く異なっていた。
しかも運がいいことに12月一杯にしか存在しない「子持ちのホヤ」が刺身で登場。
もちろん1年中味わえる刺身であるけれど、この時期だけは特別なんだとホヤ娘嬢より説明を受ける。
なるほど、精巣付きのほうはちょっと苦みがあるものの新鮮でそれとは別物のウマさ。
また、卵巣付きのほうは甘みがあって、これがホヤなのかと思うほどメチャクチャ美味しかった。
ホヤ娘曰く「ホヤの刺身は日本酒によく合うんですよ。ワタシは、この刺身だけで4合はペロッと飲めます」
と、妙なご意見あり。
たしかに、つるっとしたホヤの味わいが日本酒のノド越しとよく合うような気がする。
自分自身もだいぶ深酒状態ではあったものの、ハイボールと日本酒2合を突き出しと刺身だけで美味しく流し込めたので間違いはなさそうだ。
【さいごに】
地酒は、100ミリで638円。
つまり１合で1148円と結構お高めの設定。
日本酒飲み放題もあるので、オレのように2軒目3軒目ではなく1軒目でやるつもりなら、そちらの方がおススメ。
なお、一杯100ミリとは言いながら、ボリュームはホヤ娘の手加減次第なので、少ない時も多い時もあるというのはご愛敬だぞ。
