August 2016: I was asked to take someone somewhere during summer vacation, and since I can only go somewhere cool, I decided to head to Kaida Plateau. This restaurant was the main destination, and the rest of the sightseeing was just a bonus. [About the soba] ◎Yoake Soba - 1,500 yen I hadn't seen this soba in years. When they said they had this and that prepared for today, I was excited to hear that they had Yoake soba. It's a combination of dark country soba and Sarashina soba. First of all, it looks artistic, and when you put it in your mouth, the fragrant flavor of the soba fills your mouth. It tastes like happiness. [Summary] It's a little over two hours by car, so it's not something you can easily go to, but I once again realized that it's a restaurant worth going out of your way to visit. July 2014: A long time ago, more than five years ago, I learned about this restaurant in a magazine or something, and drove for two and a half hours. The first soba I ordered at the restaurant was an artistic two-layered black and white soba called "Yoake Soba." Since then, I have been visiting this restaurant at least once a year. [About the restaurant] It is located on the way from Route 19 to Kaida Plateau. First of all, the air is fresh because it is in the forest. The restaurant is quietly built among the trees, and the entrance is also beautiful. The interior is also a wonderful space using wood. It seems to be run by four people: the owner, the proprietress, her daughter? and a part-time worker? [About the soba] It seems that they haven't served "dawn soba" for a few years now, but the basic mori soba is the best. Even though I don't know much about soba, I can tell that the taste of the soba here is a little different. It teaches me what the aroma of soba is like. The squid ink soba is a new feeling, but it's addictive in its own way. [Summary] This restaurant is also featured in the Zagat Survey. The owner's stoic passion for soba. The attentive service of the proprietress and her daughter. And the fragrant, authentic soba. It's a restaurant that's worth driving out of your way to go and eat at.
