I visited Engawa on my last night in Beppu. As a restaurant that requires reservations, it is as delicious as ever. I hesitated about whether to go to Miima or Engawa, and ended up going here this time. I think it would be fine to give it a 3.5, so I'll give it a high rating of 4 points. The dishes are elaborate, starting with the appetizers. The kitchen is run by one person, so it would be helpful if you could order a sashimi platter or something else when you make a reservation. I made a reservation for the sashimi platter for four and the tuna spare ribs, as I wasn't sure if they were for in-store orders. I thought they would be more voluminous, but they were actually smaller than kama. I wondered what spare ribs were, and when I took my chopsticks, the bone shore, skin shore, and grilled parts were fragrant and delicious. There was no smell, so I could eat it with salt rather than soy sauce. I enjoyed Kamemasa, the Ryukyu fish that I missed at Suiten, and the popular Toriten at this restaurant. For sake, I recommend Takakiya, the most popular sake in Oita, which has a water-like transparency. It's a refreshing drink that rivals the Oriental Beauty that I tried. Whatever I ordered was delicious.
