2014年春に初回、その後４回くらい訪問しているお店です。
岡山駅は東口と西口に分かれており、西側はどちらかというと旧市街で、開発の進んでいる方が東口だと聞いていた。
東口に降り立つとまず目に入るのが桃太郎通りと呼ばれている大通り。その左側（北側）にビッグカメラから始まる商店街が並び、そして右側（南側）に飲み屋街が広がっていて、その中に丸屋はあります。外観はおしゃれな感じです。東口から徒歩5-7分くらいです。
鶏を1匹まるごと使った鍋が～と店の前に置かれた看板に書いてあるのを見て、これは美味いんじゃないか？と思い初訪問。店内は普通の清潔な居酒屋。厨房の前にカウンターが10席、その後ろに座敷3つくらいと、二階席の様子。座席は広々とはしていないが、不便はなかったと思います。
駅近くということもあり、ままかり等の地のもの名物系や地酒も置いてありますし、日本のエーゲ海牛窓産マッシュルームを使ったメニューもあります。岡山県には新鮮な野菜や魚を食べさせてくれるお店は多いですが、しかしこのお店のポイントは鶏鍋だと思います。骨ごと煮込んだかのような濃いゲンコツスープに、複数のスパイス、ハーブ？が溶け込んでおり、表面に膜が貼るほどのコッテリ感ですが、一口食べるとアラ不思議。口の中に鶏の味と香りが心地よく広がります。味付けは自分にはやや濃い目ですが、これからの寒い時期に体が温まるようなメニューです。スープを飲んでしまっても、その後雑炊をお願いすることも可能なのも嬉しかったです。
好みは分かれると思いますが、鶏のお鍋はこの店の個性的なメニューだと思いますので、訪問された際にはトライされてみてはいかがでしょうか。
