10月下旬、宮古島を訪れた。各地から紅葉の便りが届く中、この島はまだまだ夏真っ盛りである。この日は島内をドライブ、美しい“宮古ブルー”の海にすっかり魅せられた。
Dinnerはホテル近くの“市場通り”沿いの焼肉店を予約、ここは“宮古牛の一頭買い”を売りにしている。落ち着いた雰囲気の店内は、老若男女で賑わっている。まずは「オリオンドラフトビール 生」650円で乾杯、「得盛り 玉城カルビ・ロース・ハラミ3種盛り」2,980円を焼く。“宮古牛”のカルビとロースはやわらかくジューシーで、すこぶる上質な旨みに魅了される。とりわけカルビは口中でとろけるような極上の味わいで、しばし言葉を失ってしまう。思わず追加で「得盛り 玉城カルビ」1,580円をオーダーし、心ゆくまで“宮古牛”の味を堪能した。ドリンクは「オリオン 生」お代わりの後、宮古島限定の泡盛「豊見親」550円ロックへと飲み継いだ。
