2023年7月のとある休日19時過ぎに訪ねた。
堺筋本町駅から徒歩2分ほどの場所にあるわら焼き料理がウリの居酒屋「ブランニュー酒場 カツオとさくら」。
広い店内は4割程度が客で埋まっていた。
1人での利用を伝えるとカウンター席に案内される。
イスに座ってからメニューをじっくり眺め、注文する。
まずはクラフトビールの「TOSACO（文旦）小瓶」¥750を注文する。爽やかさとコクを感じるビールで喉を潤す。海鮮系の料理には合いそうな一杯。
お通しには大根の煮物が提供される。アッサリした味わいで食感が残るように仕上げた一品。ビールと共に味わうには良い。
ちくきゅう ¥380：七味マヨが添えられたちくきゅう。ちくわの輪っかが大きめになっており、きゅうりをしっかり味わえる一品。安定のつまみはビールによく合う。一品目に頼むには良いチョイスであった。
カツオのタレたたき ¥1,380：カツオのたたきがこの店のイチオシだが、塩かタレの内タレでお願いした。わらで良い感じに焼きを入れたかつおにみょうが、ネギ、ニンニクスライス、ワカメとタレを合わせた一皿。食べてみると見事な美味しさ。カツオ自体のクオリティが見事で焼き加減も抜群に良い。タレは程好い甘みを感じて濃すぎない味が良い。クラフトビールから日本酒「桂月 超辛口特別純米」¥370に切り替えて楽しむ。カツオのたたきと辛口の日本酒の組み合わせは最高。夏の盛りに季節を感じる料理を満喫出来た。
カツオとちくきゅうを食べて追加で何か注文しようと思ったが、結構盛況な感じだったのでどこか頼みづらさもあって早めに切り上げることとした。
1人での利用も可能だが、仲間同士で利用するのが良い「カツオとさくら」。家庭では出来ないわら焼き料理を楽しめる魅力的な居酒屋。またカツオを食べに来たいと思える店であった。
