Yu Yu Osaka Port - Direct from Contract Farms (1F Port Villa Meisei, 3-6-10 Chikko, Minato-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) Located on the north side of Osaka Port Station on the Chuo Line of the Osaka Metro, right in front of Exit 3, it is a place you will definitely pass when going to the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, a popular tourist attraction. Yu Yu Osaka Port - Direct from Contract Farms opened in 2014 (Heisei 26). I had heard from multiple sources from clients, acquaintances, and fellow gourmets in Osaka that there was a cheap and interesting Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) near the Aquarium Kaiyukan. I can understand a cheap Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), but what is an interesting Izakaya (Japanese-style bar)? To confirm this mystery, I headed to Osaka Port for the first time in a while. I had heard that it was close to the station, but it wasn't just close; it was right in front of me! This way, if I leave the shop three minutes before the last train, I'll have plenty of time to make it to the platform, making it a true Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in front of the station. When choosing an Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) to go, thinking about the way home makes me feel more at ease if I think it's close to the station, and it's true that I sometimes relax and drink too much (wry smile). But even so, it's true that being close to the station - in front of a station - is a strong point for Izakaya (Japanese-style bar). There's a big yellow sign next to the Lawson on the corner, so it's in such an easy-to-find location that I'm sure no one would get lost (lol). I finished work early that day and arrived at the shop around 5:30pm, and although I felt a bit guilty about drinking while it was still light out, I couldn't have been more excited! When we entered the restaurant, it wasn't too crowded because it was this time of day on a weekday, but there were already groups of foreigners and what appeared to be families on their way back from the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan in the middle of a fun party. We were guided to a box table seat with spirited shouts. Among the various drinks on the menu, the restaurant's recommendations are chuhai and highballs. Plain chuhai costs 288 yen, and Kaku highballs cost 333 yen, which are cheap and irresistible for heavy drinkers. The menu has an "Japan's Highball and Chuhai Tour", and there are flavors from all 47 prefectures, such as banana in Tokyo and lesca in Osaka. If you conquer an area such as Kinki or Kanto, your next drink will be free. You get a stamp with each drink you drink, which is kind of like radio calisthenics and easy to understand. It seems that you will receive a present if you conquer all 47 prefectures. The easiest way is to conquer the Shikoku area, which means if you drink four drinks, your next drink will be free, and it is the best deal. Tempozan Cheese 433 yen Golden Rolled Egg 433 yen These were the two items we ordered first. Tempozan Cheese is a homemade cheese that has been certified as "Minatokumon" by the local Minato ward. This original menu item features crackers and homemade cheese in the shape of a sea or mountain, resembling Tempozan. It is made with processed cheese, cream cheese, milk, fresh cream, and gelatin, and has a smooth texture like tofu. The golden rolled omelet is made with "Bihoro eggs," eggs from Kumano chicken farms in Ehime Prefecture, which are raised with special care given to the feed, chickens, and water used. These eggs, which have won the Japan championship in the past, have large yolks and are firm enough to be picked up with chopsticks. Served in a custom-made ceramic arched bowl in the shape of a bridge, it is topped with grated daikon radish and a drizzle of soy sauce, for a rich flavor that spreads in your mouth. Minato Fisherman's Sashimi Platter, 3 Kinds, 777 yen Yuyu's top recommendation is the variety of fresh fish delivered directly from Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture and Sukumo Fishing Port in Kochi Prefecture. Today's 3 Kinds Platter is bonito and yellowtail from Kochi, and pepper snapper from Nagasaki. When the sashimi arrived, it was served in a square Tamatebako-like container with a lid. I wondered why there was a lid for sashimi, but the next moment the lid was opened! Smoke billowed out from inside and I couldn't see anything inside. It was like the legend of Urashima Taro (surprising). There was dry ice inside and the smoke was used to create the Tamatebako look. Interesting! Finally, as if the fog had cleared, the sashimi came into view. First of all, the peppered sea bream. The elegant white meat had a springy and sweet taste. It was really fresh sashimi. The bonito and yellowtail from Kochi were also fresh and fatty, and really felt like they were delivered directly from the source. Heaping whitebait salad 580 yen Only vegetables were served on the plate, and at first there was not a single whitebait. On top of that, a huge amount of whitebait from the Tamatebako was placed on top until the customer gave the signal to stop. Yoisho! As the bowl is shouted, the shirasu is piled high, but I love shirasu so I'm not ready to stop (lol). It was about to overflow from the bowl, so if I stopped there, the mountain of shirasu salad would probably be renamed Mount Fuji Shirasu Salad, so maybe I went a bit too far (lol). The shirasu from Ehime Prefecture is soft and the saltiness is just right, so no one can stop eating, and Mount Fuji gradually becomes a lower mountain, and with a sense of responsibility for having piled so much, we all finished it all.If you order in groups, it's sure to get the crowd excited, and it's a menu item that you definitely can't miss. When we entered the restaurant, we were cheered on in the tatami room at the back. With a shout of "Hello!", the mystery of the children's joy was solved (lol). Their proud assortment of meatballs, Yuuyuu mori, 555 yen. After the huge pile of shirasu salad came the assortment of meatballs, arranged like a bonsai or flower arrangement on a rectangular plate. A treasure box → a mountain → a flower arrangement... it was a continuous succession of surprises that never let us rest. Yuuyuu's meatballs are made by kneading three types of carefully selected meat - chicken, pork, and beef - by hand and blending them into an original ratio, then grilling them until they are juicy. This is also a very popular menu item. It comes in four flavors - grilled with sauce, plum and shiso, cheese, and grated ponzu sauce. You won't get bored of eating it alone, but if you share with a group, you can choose your favorite flavor. It has a meaty texture similar to that of Hamburg steak, and is a unique meatball that you won't find anywhere else. Overnight dried young chicken, 488 yen. The overnight dried young chicken that I ordered as a snack finally helped me regain my composure visually. If I were to compare it to an amusement park, it would be like riding a roller coaster after a series of rides.うどんをつくろう。 English: Feel like you're on a merry-go-round ♫ By drying the young chicken overnight, the fat becomes softer and the slightly stronger flavor makes it perfect as a snack with alcohol, and it helps you drink more highballs towards the end (lol) Golden Curry Udon 488 yen We learned how to make this from a popular Curry Udon restaurant with stores in Sakai and Namba, and it's the most popular final dish at Yuyu. The multiple spices create a deep spiciness, and it's finished with Japan's best eggs, "Bihoro eggs," which are also used in rolled omelets, so it's spicy yet mellow. It is served with shrimp tempura, so it is very filling. In Kagawa, the udon prefecture, it is common to have Curry Udon after drinking, and finishing off with some spicy and mellow Curry Udon will bring to a close this evening's party. Afterword... In a town that is home to the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, we discovered a fun Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) that is like an amusement park! With an abundant menu and a variety of carefully selected ingredients delivered directly from contracted producers, they don't just serve them on a plate, but put in creative efforts to entertain customers. All the staff are young, the girls are cute, and the boys are handsome. They are all polite and always smiling. Not only does Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) taste good, but this izakaya really values relationships and conversations with customers. They also have dishes that kids would love, like Hamburg Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl), puddings, and ice cream, so it's the kind of Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) that friends, colleagues, couples, and even families can casually drop in to on the way home from the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. It's right in front of the station and the prices are reasonable. I left the restaurant with the mystery of the rumor solved: "There's a cheap and interesting Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in Osaka!" I had a feeling that this place might become a hit... Thank you for the meal!
