Remarks |
[Relocated from 1-2-7 Omachi Higashi, Sakai Ward, Sakai City] |
We were invited by a business partner in Sakai and visited the restaurant with a total of seven people. We had the counter all to ourselves. The restaurant is a house that suddenly appears in a quiet residential area about 10 minutes walk from Sakai Station. The storefront is a beautiful Japanese building. When you go through the noren, you will find a small and elegant interior. We had the counter all to ourselves, and the owner cooked for us exclusively. (I later noticed when I went to the toilet that there was another room beyond the back door, connected to the dirt floor, and there seemed to be customers there too. The restaurant is divided into small sections.) It seems that we had booked a course, so the appetizers were served one by one. Each seasonal dish was carefully and elegantly cooked, and every time we put it in our mouths, we all exclaimed, "Mmm, delicious!" After several appetizers, we started with Sushi. Everything was delicious. The rice was small, the toppings were wide, and it felt like they were wrapped around the rice. If you watch closely, you'll see that each time the toppings change, small amounts of sushi rice are brought in from the back and added to the rice bowl next to the owner. It seems that he is particular about using rice that is at the perfect temperature and dryness for each dish. The nori seaweed used in several dishes is also fragrant, giving the impression that he uses very high quality ingredients. A taciturn, artisan-like owner, a small but elegant, high-class interior, and superb food. It's no wonder that Yasuke is such a renowned restaurant.
