八尾駅ほど近くのなんてことない場所にあるトンカツ屋。毎朝8:30から店前にて記帳して枠を取るスタイル。しかし、大体の目安時間しか教えてくれず順番が近くなったら電話をかけてもらえる。そこで遅れても後でくれば入れてもらえるようだった。8:30についたら30人待ちだったが、問題なく記帳できた。焦らなくても良さそうだ。ただ八尾は何もないのでこの辺りで時間を潰すのは至難の技。私は、八尾グランドホテルと花園のサウナに行ったらちょうどいい時間に戻ってこれたので事実上待ち時間はゼロだった。
さて、とんかつの種類は豊富。鹿児島豚が基本のようだが別途ブランド豚7種を用意。私はノーマルのヒレと氷室熟成豚のハーフ&ハーフ2900円を注文。揚げるには少し時間がかかる。その間にサラダを食べて待つ。トンカツの味は想像以上に衣が暑い。これだとブランド肉が可哀想かなと思った。衣は味が付いていて、胡椒感がやや強い。結果、ケンタッキーフライドチキンみたいな味に仕上がっている。それはそれで美味しいのだが、高級トンカツ感がないのは残念。ヒレは柔らかくて、ロースは脂っこすぎない程度にジューシーでもちろん美味しいのだけれど。食べ方は炭塩とオリーブオイルと果物ソース。おしゃれなんだけど、なんかこれじゃない感。炭塩はやや塩味が弱すぎるしオリーブオイルだとロース本来の脂の味が消えてしまう。結果、雰囲気重視の店なのかなと思ってしまった。
