今年の佐賀はあつい！ひな祭りの3月末に佐賀を訪れると、今年は明治維新150年、幕末維新博覧会が開かれている。幕末期、欧米列強が植民地を広げることに危機意識を持った佐賀藩主鍋島直正は人材教育や技術研究に力を入れて、佐賀藩を日本最先端技術を持つ藩に押し上げていく。佐賀藩の軍事力と多くの人材は明治維新の日本の近代化に大きな役割を果たした。
鳥栖は交通結節点で長崎、熊本、鹿児島へと非常に便利がいい。初めて入った大将の言うことが分かった。ここから少し離れた母家の店を任せて、鳥栖の駅前のぼまるの方が気になる。滝をイメージした店のファサードが斬新。この日は遅く入ったので、2階、3階の部屋では宴会が行われて盛況だ。
1階のカウンターは空いていたので着席。まず、瓶ビールを頂く、カウンターには所狭しと焼酎、日本酒、ワインとが並べられている。頭の中では早くもビールの次は何を飲もうかと考える。付き出しの酢の物がビールに合う。冷奴も甘くて美味しい。野菜たっぷりのサラダもボリュームがある。
黒霧の焼酎の水割りにかえて、本日の西京味噌焼きを注文するが、出てきたのは肉厚の鯛だ。ポロリと肉が弾けるようだ。隣に座った岐阜の人との会話もまたカウンターならではである。とり天を注文するが、汁に浸けて食べるのは初体験、おいしい。最後は超辛口の地酒、特別純米酒、天吹を頂き、大将との会話も楽しく気分よく酔いました。
