イカの活け造りを目当てに行きました。
店内のカウンターに囲まれた空間に生け簀や水槽が置かれており、イカやヒラメ、貝類が入っていました。
お目当てのイカは100gあたり1000円という結構なお値段。訪れた際には大きめのものしかなく、約300gのものを戴きました。捌かれてお皿の上に乗って出てきたものは、身が本当に透明、足の部分がピクピクどころか盛んに動き回っている活きの良さ。大きな期待とともに口に入れましたが、味自体は、ケンサキイカ（ヤリイカ）そのもの。アオリイカに比べると、甘みが少なく、非常にあっさりした味。まあ、これは透明の身と動いている足を目で楽しみ、コリコリとした食感を歯で楽しむのが眼目のものなのでしょう。それらを含めてのお値段ということで、味自体をとってみれば、決して引き合いません。もっとも、お料理というのは、単に舌の上の味だけで構成されるものではないのですけどね。
いかしゅうまいは、まあ、こんなもの。確かに美味ではありましたが、喧伝されているほどのものでもなく。お造り盛り合わせは、味自体はよかったのですが、各々の身が細切れに造られ過ぎていて、私好みではありませんでした。また、盛りつけられているものが何なのか、何の説明も無かったのも、頼りない感じの接客でした。
鯛茶漬けは、胡麻だれに入った鯛の切り身をご飯の上にのせ、お茶をかけて食すタイプのものでした。胡麻だれの味が濃いのか、量が多いのか、全部を入れてしまった私は、胡麻の味が勝ちすぎて、鯛のうまみをあまり感じることができませんでした。九州なんですから、胡麻だれの味を引き締めるのに、ゆず胡椒を使えば良い味になるかもしれません。
