Obon holiday. My friends from Kanto and Osaka came to visit me in Shiga. I had to go and tell them how scary Shiga is lol. I decided to go and meet them right away with my drinking buddies! (lol) This time, we chose "Zenbe-san" as the venue for the Makyo banquet. What do you think about adding "san" to your own restaurant? (lol) Unlike the impression from the entrance, the restaurant has quite a lot of seats inside and is almost full. Each table is separated by a partition, creating a three-dimensional space that is conscious of privacy. We were guided to our reserved sunken kotatsu seat and cheers! The appetizers were Vinegared dish, octopus in vinegar, and Simmered dish chicken with green onions. I was a little naive to say it was an appetizer, but it was pretty good! Assorted sashimi (1,080 yen) Beautifully arranged. The squid was quite delicious, but unfortunately, the sashimi I tasted at Jankenpon! was a step above. I'm glad that the salad is prepared in small portions for each person♪ And then, "BOOM!", a huge serving of mayonnaise came out! lol It was as if they knew I was a mayonnaise lover and prepared it for me (lol) Then, fried chicken (580 yen) This was just delicious♪ It was soft and the seasoning was gentle and easy to eat. For some reason, they brought out meatballs. When I made the reservation, I ordered "salad", "sashimi", "fried chicken", and "Tempura", but they brought meatballs (lol) Maybe they misheard? It was very soft and delicious, so it's okay (^^) That's all the dishes I ordered when I made the reservation. After that, each person can order what they like. Yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) (680 yen) is made with local chicken from Shiga, and it's soft and delicious. Guru Guru-san, who doesn't like chicken dishes, only ate the green onions. My personal favorite is "Nametake oroshi" (grated daikon radish) (380 yen) This is something you can make at home, but it tastes really good when you eat it at Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) like this! Grilled eggplant and cheese with meat sauce (780 yen) The melted cheese and meat sauce are a perfect match! It's quite delicious when mixed with eggplant and mushrooms. Zenbe's beer is a little pricey, with draft beer (530 yen) and draft beer (930 yen). Plum wine (on the rocks, with water, with soda) is 580 yen. Chuhai is 380 yen, so I guess that's normal? I ordered eggplant dengaku (430 yen), which was sliced eggplant dengaku♪ I was a little surprised because I was expecting eggplant cut vertically (@_@;) Finally, we had salt-grilled sweetfish.
