吉原商店街のスクランブル交差点から東へ進んで一つ目の信号（角にお茶屋さん）を右折してすぐ左手にある日本料理店のはせ川。店の北側に駐車場有。こちらは富士市でちょっとかしこまった席や接待の店として、はせ川のお隣の魚民、新富士の雁がね、富士のあやめと並んで名前が挙がる店ですね。地元民なのでモチロン存在は知っていたし、法事などで利用したこともあってそれなりに風雅な雰囲気でおいしいものが出てくる程度の認識で、ランチにうな重があるとはつゆ知らず・・・。
店内は間口が狭く奥行きが長い構造で、一階にテーブル席が３卓ほどの小さく仕切られた部屋がいくつか、二階が座敷、個室。ダウンライトの仄暗いしっとりした雰囲気で、座敷にはちょっとした坪庭ふうの装飾が施されていたりと内装もなかなかに手が込んでいます。給仕の女性もみな着物で、かしこまった席にもよく慣れており、対応も市内の日本料理店では随一だと思います。昼のメニューはミニコース的なものや松花堂弁当などで１５００円から３０００円くらい。うな重は２１００円。そこいらのうなぎ屋と変わらない価格で食べられます。
さて、３０分弱くらいで運ばれてきたうな重の蓋を開けるとなかなか大きな身が１尾分。箸を入れると蒸しがしっかり入っていてふんわりとやわらかい。厚みのある身はとてもジューシーで脂も乗っていてその脂が甘く実にウマイ。タレは甘さに逃げず、やや辛みの勝ったタイプで、豊かな身との相性がよいです。ゴハンの硬さも妥当。なんだ、うまいじゃないか！うなぎで久しぶりの満足感。失礼ながら、和食屋のうなぎはあまりいい思いをしたことがなかったのでほとんど期待はしていませんでしたが、いい具合に裏切られました。肝吸いもさすが日本料理屋の仕事らしく上品な柚子の香りとダシの風味がすばらしい。地元でこんなうな重が、２１００円で食べられるとは。まさに灯台下暗し。
この店、庶民にはやや敷居が高い感じもするけれど、夜の会席コースは５０００円ソコソコから、ウリのしゃぶしゃぶも４０００円くらいからで案外に手が届く値段で、たまの宴席にはいいのではないでしょうか。
今回の評価はあくまでうな重の評価ということで・・・。
