Many white wines are produced here, and the Grecanico and Inzolia grapes are famous for producing high-quality wines from a wide variety of local grape varieties. Zibibbo, a relative of Moscato, is produced on the island of Pantelleria, south of Sicily. However, due to the stable climate, in recent years the quality of red wine has become one of the best in Italy. The Nero d'Avola variety, the representative variety of Sicilian red wine, is said to have been imported from Greece to the village of Avola, near the southernmost tip of Sicily. Additionally, Marsala wine has a unique structure compared to other wines, and has a long history of being loved all over the world. Recently, foreign varieties such as Cabernet, Syrah, and Merlot have also entered the market, and although they are of course used alone, they are often mixed with local varieties such as Nero d'Avola. I have no doubt that the people of Sicily, who are not bound by conventional ideas and are good at mixed brewing, will continue to produce more and more interesting wines.
