This is a chicken and eel restaurant located in Shinbashi. The shop was founded in the first year of the Taisho era, and is a member of a long-established group called the Shiba Hyakunenkai. The building looks modern from the outside, but the signboards and posters give it a Showa-era feel. There are 2 tables for 2 people, 5 tables for 4 people, and a tatami room. There are three aquariums of different sizes in the store, filled with tropical fish. Also, there seem to be a lot of TV coverage, so there are a lot of colored papers autographed by celebrities. All of the eel dishes are domestically produced. Plum is 2,700 yen. It is said that there is one whole piece of bamboo, and one large piece of pine. At lunch time, there is a limited edition eel bowl (2,100 yen). What I received was: - Unaju Bamboo (3,100 yen) I don't know how long they prepare the food, but it seems that most of the food is prepared after ordering, so the wait time is long. The amount of eel is more than enough for a standard size rice bowl. When you eat it, it's fluffy and soft, and the skin has a chewy texture. The skin is not crispy, has no aroma, and has a texture that melts in your mouth. The quality of the eel seems to be quite good, and you can feel the fat in it. Even though it is steamed and finished soft, this fat is the best proof that it is good. The sauce is light and has a less sweet taste. The sweet sauce on eel is the sauce that comes with eel sold at fish stores and supermarkets, and many long-established restaurants have a refreshing sauce like this. This kind of sauce is especially good for this kind of eel, which has a lot of fat. It doesn't have the characteristic odor of river fish, so I ate it without using Japanese pepper. The rice used is Koshihikari rice grown in Ibaraki Prefecture. The softness of the cooking makes it a perfect match with the plump eel. Liver soup is a high-quality soup made with proper dashi stock, and includes liver, 2 pieces of kamaboko, 2 pieces of chikuwa, and daikon radish. There are 3 types of pickles. There's more than enough eel for the rice, and there's also plenty of pickles. With this quality and quantity, including accessories such as liver sucking, it feels like a great deal at this price. Evening hours start early and end early, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Apparently, many regulars use the restaurant for banquets. If you can drink at a restaurant like this, you're a first-class adult. If you can get domestic eel from a long-established restaurant at this price, I think it's a good deal in this day and age. Rather than lunch, we recommend visiting in the evening and enjoying eel and sake in a quiet restaurant.
